I have been on a "artist trading card" high, this seems to be the only art format my brain can handle right now, so I just been doing one after the other.
I have been also religiously trading them one by one. It's great to get home late from work and have some envelopes with atc(s) from other artists to open up.
I am really enjoying making atc(s) with a golden pen/gold acrylic, it always looks great in a deep watercolor background.
Another combination that never fails me is pen and watercolors (the atc below are done in this media, with an art noveau theme), for some reason I always love it, even when the drawing is not so accomplished.
I have been also taking the chance to try new techniques and combinations in these atc(s). Since due to their size, they're so easy to do, and then if the outcome is bad, you've wasted a minimal amount of supplies, so it's ok. Below I experimented with some sgraffito technique (oil pastel underneath a layer of Indian ink, then the ink is scratched to make the drawing) and some collage combined with pen.
Below some atc(s) done with some more mundane media (pen and watercolor, and color pencils).
I also continued with the theme of cats and tarot, so this month I completed the card "Temperance", done with collage, pen and gouache. The card on the left also done using gouache ("Sky Messenger") and the card on the right is done with soft pastels.
I am certain November will bring more atc(s)!
Thanks for stopping by!
