In the same website where I exchange artist trading cards (atcforall.com), artists also exchange larger works, like post cards, mail art, small handmade books, etc. Another artist there has made a fun tread where we get to illustrate suggested recipes and ask for illustrations of recipes ourselves.
So I took the challenge and made an illustration for a desert I do quite often, Chocolate chunk banana bread mug cake, if you would like to try, here is the original recipe. I have changed it a little bit, since I have done it so many times, I got to know what works and what doesn't for me.
The illustration needs to be done in a 3 by 5 inch card (the shape can vary, but the size needs to be more or less this one) and it can be done in any media, as long as is hand-drawn. For this illustration, I used watercolors and color pencils on Canson mixed media paper, which worked quite well (the paper almost didn't buckle).
I also loved that I got to write, which is something I rarely do but enjoy a lot (specially with a nice fountain pen!), but I usually don't know what to write, so this makes for the perfect excuse.
I got excited and went ahead and did anther one for another of my favorite foods, red lentil dahl, as seen above.
This has been quite fun and I think I will be participating on the tread more times.
Thanks for stopping by!
